About Leggott Trailers
In the early
1900's Arthur Leggott rode horseback from Dawson to Waco with the money
he had made trading livestock. He purchased many parcels of land around
the area that would be known later for it's traffic circle. Among those
purchases was one piece which he acquired in December of 1924.
After returning from Tokio Bay in the mid 40's, Arthur "Red" Leggott Jr. was working at his fathers auction barn and needed to buy a set of stock racks to transport cattle in the back of his truck. He called Bill Hale in Sherman Tx. and learned that if he bought three sets he could be a dealer. Soon Mr. Hale was building trailers in his garage and Leggott Trailers was booming. Arthur Sr., told his ambitious son that he would soon sell everyone a trailer and put himself out of business. Red persisted and continued to sell trailers well into the 80's Tom Leggott started to work for his dad in 1984. With Tom's youth and enthusiasm and Red's patience and knowledge the little trailer company thrived. They expanded the shop to more than double the size and sold more and more parts to go with the trailers.
